WHAT IS THE LOCK ACADEMY - Escape Room Paris?
Detective genius and director of the Academy, Professor Lock is off travelling around the world, solving mysteries.
During his absence, he's counting on you to keep Lock Academy running smoothly, and to train the detectives of tomorrow.
Unfortunately, his enemies often take advantage of his absence to attack the academy! Without the Professor, it will be up to you and your team to solve the mysteries that lie before you and become heroes!
Two-time winner of the Escape Game Awards 2016, 2017 and 2019 from the website Escape Game Paris, the Lock Academy needs you, family, friends, Team Building, to combat the crime!
How many mysteries are there to solve in the Academy?
Lock Academy has 7 mysteries: 6 different mystery rooms and one outside investigation. Our Room Escapes are all built around the same concept, in two different locations.
You will find the Academy Châtelet at 25 rue Coquillière, 75001 Paris, and the Academy Sebastopol to 131 Boulevard de Sebastopol, 75002 Paris. At these Escape Game locations, you will have to solve a series of puzzles to solve the mystery within 60 minutes.
Our first mystery is called A Near-Perfect Crime. Like a real-life Cluedo, investigate the murder of Dean Doyle! Find the motive, the murder weapon, and the culprit.
In our Little Miss Lock escape room, you’ll help Professor Lock, director of the Academy, find his daughter who disappeared two days ago. Twists and adrenaline guaranteed!
For teams who are looking for the challenge, the Escape Game The Heist of the Century awaits you! Help us find the stolen Detectives’ Guide. An entirely ‘padlock-free’ escape game!
If you’d prefer to investigate outside, our Operation Mindfall treasure hunt is made for you. Follow the clues around the Châtelet-Les Halles neighbourhood and save the world!
The Escape Game Revolt at Lock Academy is an exciting mystery in which your mission will be to prevent the school from being sold to public enemy number 1, Jim Key! To achieve your goal, you’ll have to face off an unexpected opponent: Professor Lock himself...
In our L.A. Confidential escape room, you’re tricked by Jim Key and you have to help him if you hope to save the Academy. Your mission: gain entry to the most secure room in the entire school and find the files which will reveal Professor Lock’s darkest secret.
Do you have the makings of a great detective? Find out by competing in the prestigious Lock Academy Examination, entirely designed by E.V.A, our new Artificial Intelligence System.
What languages are available for the games?
Is solving the mystery hard?
Our mysteries do not require specific knowledge to get out and are open to all. With family or friends, no need to be a Cluedo pro: our puzzles call on your observational skills, your logic, your teamwork ... and your good mood!
During the game you will receive clues when needed. Cameras placed in the room will allow us to track your progress. There is however no video or audio recording in our game rooms.
Beware, the puzzles can be difficult for children under 14 years. That's why we ask that children from 9 to 14 years old must be accompanied by two adults minimum per Escape Room! We do not accept children under 9 years old in our mystery rooms.
Can I film or take photos in the game room?
To ensure all experience the most enjoyable game, the use of cameras, mobile phones or any other devices to film or photograph is prohibited.
For the curious, here is an overview of our Live Escape Game Rooms!
Will I be locked in the room?
Yes. However, we monitor the game room for the duration of the game for your safety and we can intervene immediately and open the Live Escape Game room if necessary.
Furthermore, a security push button is present at the entrance of each of our game rooms, and allow you to exit the mystery if there should be an emergency.
Not sure you’d like being in a small space? The L.A Confidential mystery is strongly discouraged for people who suffer from claustrophobia.
Do we need to wear a mask at the Lock Academy?
Unfortunately, yes! Because of the COVID-19 pandemic in France, every player – including children – have to come investigate with their own masks, or might be subjected to a refusal of access of our establishment. This measure aims towards a reduction of the risk of the virus’ propagation.
Who can solve the mysteries?
Lock Academy, Escape Game in Paris, is an entertainment activity that caters to everyone: family, friends, Team Building, students, etc. The puzzles require logic, speed and dexterity. However, no special knowledge is required: we won't expect you to recite Pythagoras's Theorem, do not worry!

How many players make up a team in an Escape Game?
Your team must consist of 2 to 6 players for our Little Miss Lock and A Near Perfect Crime, 3 to 6 players Revolt at Lock Academy mystery rooms and for The Heist of the Century, and 4 to 6 players for L.A. Confidential and The Examination. With fewer players, some puzzles can be too difficult and, with more than the recommended maximum, you will be stepping on each other's toes and not enjoying the game.
We recommend that ‘expert’ teams (or at least those who are experienced at escape games) to not be more than 5 players for A Near-Perfect Crime and Little Miss Lock.
Our Operation Mindfall treasure hunt is for from 2 to 5 players per team and can be played in competition mode for up to 10 players (2 team of 5 players).
How old can we be to take part in a Lock Academy Mystery?
The minimum age to participate in the Escape Games at Lock Academy is 9 years old with at least 2 adults per team or 14 years unaccompanied.
Groups composed exclusively of children will not be accepted in our live escape game rooms, nor will be groups including just one accompanying adult. Babies and young children are not allowed in our mystery rooms.
Why? Because our puzzles are designed for adults and may be too difficult for children. As a family, the children can search while the parents help understand the puzzles. Alone, children can become discouraged by the difficulty of certain mysteries. Also, many of the components in our rooms are fragile. We therefore ask accompanying adults to keep their children under close supervision.
Are the mysteries accessible for people with disabilities?
The mystery 'A Near Perfect Crime' is accessible to people with reduced mobility and people using a wheelchair. However, we recommend that you include on your team at least one able-bodied person, in order to maintain a good immersion in the game.
The mystery 'Revolt at the Lock Academy' is also accessible to people with reduced mobility. However, we recommend that you include on your team at least one able-bodied person, in order to maintain a good immersion in the game.
Our treasure hunt Operation Mindfall is also suitable for people with reduced mobility or using a wheelchair. The treasure hunt takes place in the neighbourhood of Châtelet - Les Halles on a route of containing about 25 minutes walking during the 80 minutes of the game. There are no parts of the route containing a staircase or other surface which would be difficult to access for a person with reduced mobility. However, there is a garden with gravels.
Can I participate if I am pregnant or have heart-problems?
Our puzzles contain no strenuous physical activity, and no scary elements. Indeed, a child born in Lock Academy is guaranteed to be a future genius!
